Challenging Sid Roth's endorsement of Mary K. Baxter's book, "A Divine Revelation of Hell"

The Refiner's Fire sent the following email to author, TV and radio host Sid Roth in March 2008, concerning his support of Mary K. Baxter's book, "A Divine Revelation of Hell":

Dear Mr. Roth,

I am writing to let you know that I was very disappointed to see that you interviewed Ms. Baxter about her book, "Divine Revelation of Hell." As a fellow Jewish believer in Messiah, you should be viewing YHWH and the Bible from a Hebrew perspective - which, of course, includes Torah, which shows us exactly what to concentrate on when it comes to YHWH and His Word.

Baxter claims that "Jesus" appeared to her in human form and for 40 days, allowed her to see heaven and hell. Let's examine this Biblically:

First of all, and foremost: If "Jesus" had really appeared to Ms. Baxter, He would have told her in no uncertain terms to use His real, given Name of Y'shua, and then He would have told her to tell the world to be Torah observant - not given her a trip to heaven and hell so she could tell the world the "truth". After all, WE are to accept YHWH and Y'shua by FAITH!

I'm sure this woman who is coming from some Christian perspective that teaches only the last THIRD of the Bible, is deep into doing Christmas and Easter as well, and that she has no clue about the Biblical Feasts, etc. Is someone like that to be trusted to tell YHWH's Truth? I don't think so! I'm sorry, but "Jesus" doesn't give somebody like her, who is steeped in paganism, "divine revelations" outside the Bible, nor would He promise to bless a book she is going to write - which, with its "new" revelations, render moot God's Word which tells us everything we need to know. If He did indeed "bless her book," then we will have to assume that the "Book of Mormon" is blessed as well....Never mind that in the end of the Book of Revelation we are strictly warned that anything added to or subtracted from its prophecies would be a death knell! Baxter's books add to the Bible, because they talk of things that cannot be verified in the Bible (Deuteronomy 4:2, Deuteronomy 4:2, Deuteronomy 12:32, Proverbs 30:5-6, Revelation 22:18-19)!

Baxter went to hell? If that's the case, then she was able to break YHWH's Word because the Bible tells us:

Luke 16: 26 'And besides all this, between us and you there is a great chasm fixed, so that those who wish to come over from here to you will not be able, and that none may cross over from there to us.'

In Luke 16 Y'shua also spoke of the rich man who was asking for someone to be sent back to his family so they could have proof of the afterlife and thus be saved. If you'll recall, the answer was NO!

Luke 16: 27"And he said, 'Then I beg you, father, that you send him to my father's house - 28 for I have five brothers - in order that he may warn them, so that they will not also come to this place of torment.' 29"But Abraham said, 'They have Moses and the Prophets; let them hear them.' 30"But he said, 'No, father Abraham, but if someone goes to them from the dead, they will repent!' 31 "But he said to him, 'If they do not listen to Moses and the Prophets, they will not be persuaded even if someone rises from the dead.'"

It is clearly extra biblical revelation, when "Jesus" told Ms. Baxter: "the book you shall write will save souls". The book she will write shall save souls??? Well, by George, I guess we don't need Y'shua or the Bible, then, do we?

Furthermore, how could Ms. Baxter have smelled "burning flesh" in hell? According to the Bible, when we die, we end up the grave, not in hell. Our spirit bodies will end up in hell, but not our flesh. I challenge you to find anywhere in the Bible a scripture that says our FLESH will end up in hell...Dig up any grave, and people are still in there, complete with their decaying bones and flesh....Please see The Refiner's Fire's article Hell is a real place.

Also please think about this: Although the word "rapture" is found nowhere in the Scriptures, we are told there will be a "catching up" of believers only upon Yeshua's Second Coming (1 Corinthians 6:14; 1 Thessalonians 4:13-17); not of the unbelievers who will only be called up before God on Judgment Day at the end of the Millennium. This "catching up" will be when Yeshua returns to Earth; not before. It will occur at the end of that seven year period which will begin when the Antichrist makes a seven year peace treaty with Israel.

Yeshua will rule and reign for a thousand years, at which time there will be the resurrection of ALL (the people who became believers during the Millennium, and all the DEAD unbelievers since the beginning of time who had heretofore remained in their graves). (See Isaiah 13:6,9; Jeremiah 46:10; Joel 1:15; 2:11; Amos 5:18; Obadiah 1:15, Revelation 20:1-15 and Acts 24:15). This will happen after what the Bible describes as very tough times; "Jacob's Trouble" (Jeremiah 30:4-7, Daniel 12:1, Matthew 24:15-22).

So, Mr. Roth, where does the Bible tell us SATAN is in control of hell? The Bible tells us that Satan is walking the Earth trying to deceive/devour people (1 Peter 5:8); he's not prancing about in hell, laughing as Baxter asserts. Y'shua, not Satan, holds the keys of the Kingdom of Heaven and Hell (Matthew 16:19 and Revelation 1:17). Trust me, ol' Satan won't be laughing when he gets thrown into the pits of hell over which YESHUA has the "keys"!

Revelation 1: 17 And when I saw him, I fell at his feet like one dead. And he laid his right hand upon me, and said, fear not: I am the First and the Last; 18. and who lives and was dead; and behold, I am alive for ever and ever. Amen. And I have the keys of death and of the unseen world.

Baxter went so far as to provide the supposed dimensions of hell. "Again, I will tell you that these cells, which are seventeen miles high, serve as a prison for those who once were Satan's workers of darkness" (p.97). Where in the Bible does it tell us the dimensions of HELL? She went on to say: Tenderly Jesus spoke and said, "My child, hell is real. But you could never know for sure until you had experienced it for yourself" (p.112).

You can't know hell is real until you experience it yourself???? That contradicts that we are to "believe" through FAITH! (Do a search of the Bible with the word "faith" and see how many scriptures come up!) Since the BIBLE tells us about hell, and we are to accept God's Word as TRUTH, shouldn't that be enough? Baxter's book is a bunch of bunk that contradicts the Bible, and I'm truly surprised you bothered to allow this DUNG to come across to the viewers as TRUTH!

Baxter also wrote a book in which she claims to have gone to heaven. Well, according to John 3 NO ONE has ever gone to heaven except for Y'shua: 13 No one has ever gone into heaven except the one who came from heaven - the Son of Man.

Some would argue that Enoch and Elijah went to heaven (Genesis 5:24, 2 Kings 2:11), but the fact is, "heaven" is a complex term that we really don't know much about. Shemayim (heaven) is a plural form, as is "Elohim" - which means there is more than just one aspect to "heaven." The "third heaven" for instance, is a reference to the future judgment hall or throne of the "Ancient of Days" as mentioned in Daniel 7. According to the Scriptures, ONLY YESHUA is sitting at the right hand of the Father (Hebrews 1:3).

The bottom line is, the people that God "raptured" went "somewhere" in heaven, but it's highly unlikely that someone like Mary K. Baxter who isn't on His Path is going to be "given glimpses" of heaven or hell and have her book "blessed" by Jesus. The Scriptures tell us, "Teach no other doctrine, nor give heed to fables" (1 Timothy 1:3-4). "Fables" are clearly what Baxter presents! She's a Torah-less Christian who even doesn't bother to obey YHWH's "forever" commands, so why would YHWH choose her to ADD TO or "CLARIFY" the Bible? Enoch and Elijah were both RIGHTEOUS (Torah observant); Baxter is not!

Baxter's ridiculous allegations suggest that Scripture is ineffective in its ability to "let the world know that there is a heaven or hell," and that Jesus was sent to save mankind from the latter. I guess both Baxter - and YOU, Mr. Roth - have forgotten that everything we need to know about heaven and hell is contained in the Scriptures. God's divine revelation ended with the Book of Revelation (Revelation 22:18-19); not with Mary K. Baxter's books!
