Dear Refiner's Fire...

Concerning the false polygyny teachings of Rabbis Moshe Koniuchowsky and Simon Altaf, I have the following to say, which encapsulates this whole sordid situation:

Adam and Eve sinned, bringing sin in to the world. Sin grew and Cain became a murderer. Lamech became an egotistical murderer whose ego demanded 2 wives. The world became filled with egotists and violence, but upright Noah with 1 wife found favor in the eyes of God. Wickedness was radically reduced for a while by the flood.

Ham's line especially but not exclusively started fueling the fires of iniquity again and by the time of Abram (of Shem but living in a predominantly Hamite society over in the land of the Chaldees) it is back to iniquity as usual. So Sarah gives Abram Hagar because she is just living out the twisted norm of the pagan society she was brought up in, and Abram in his lack of faith goes along with it. And bad things come of it. But God still blesses Abram who becomes Abraham. God blesses Abraham because God is good, not because Abraham is good. And awhile later God blesses Jacob's (basically 4) wives - again, not because Jacob is good but because God is good.

Four hundred some odd years later Israel is surrounded by and is infested with paganism in Egypt. Moses is used by God to lead the rabble out out of Egypt. They depart with multiple wives; they are a mess and God gives instructions in His Torah to deal with the multi-wife mess. He never commands that multiple wives be taken; He provides a way to govern the mess until the people can receive a new heart. And God blesses Israel because He is good.

David took multiple wives and people died (Uriah the Hittite as well as David and Batsheva's first child). God blessed David because God is good. Solomon took countless wives; his heart was turned toward idols. Israel began to decay and ended up with a civil war and deportation back to Babylon, basically where they were originally called out of through Abraham.

Really, there is never an example in the Word of multiple wives being a good thing. There is no command to have multiple wives. And there are warnings of what happens with multiple wives. The evidence from the full council of scripture damns the multi-wife heresy.

And finally, why is it that people think that just because God gives a blessing it is an endorsement from Him on everything about us? Isn't God's blessing simply because He is good and not because we are good? In the end the judge of whether something is acceptable in God's sight is the Word. If He blesses us that is a bonus, not something He owes us.

Anyone - this Simon guy or anyone else that demands to be called by some exalted name is just arrogant and is just like wicked Haman; they will end up hanging at end of their own rope some day.
